KENNEBUNK, ME
It all started with my annual check up at the V.A. hospital in Arizona, where my PSA (prostate cancer screening) test results were sky high. Further testing, including a biopsy, CAT and bone scan, confirmed the cancer. I came back home to Maine and chose the Cancer Care Center of York County for radiation treatment.
I had virtually no side effects from the treatment – no fatigue, nausea or diarrhea. Fortunately, despite my doctors’ initial concerns, the cancer had not metastasized.
I can’t say enough about the care I’ve received all along the way, including at the V.A. hospital in Arizona. If it weren’t for my sharp Nurse Practitioner at the VA, I might not have discovered the cancer until it was too late. The V.A., however, didn’t have anything like the equipment we have here at the Cancer Care Center of York County. This is truly the most up-to-date stuff. Cancer treatments 15 years ago were archaic compared to the way they do it now.
I’ve made some nice friends at the Center. My radiation therapists, Kim and Amanda were wonderful. We had a lot of fun together, and everyone joked about “Kim and “Bim” (my nickname since childhood). |
